 | Richmond Hill / Markham - Ontario | |

No matter where you are coming from, getting to Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada couldn't be easier. Richmond Hill is located approximately 25 km north of our provincial capital of Toronto where Highway 404 meets Highway 407 and Highway 7. Whether you are coming from the east or west you can take Highway 401 to Highway 407 or Highway 404 straight to Richmond Hill. A portion of Yonge Street makes up the Main Street of the Town.
The modern history of the Town of Markham began in 1791 when John Graves Simcoe was appointed the first Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada. During his term as Lieutenant Governor, Simcoe’s actions impacted directly on Markham. His concern for improving the military security of the new territory led to the clearing of Yonge Street and a system of free land grants, both of which greatly influenced the establishment and growth of what became the Township of Markham.
